If you could feel more or less of any emotion at any given moment, what would that mean to you? With this technique that may be possible.

Calmness

Whether you want to feel less of something or more of something else, this technique is from parts and memory therapy. Often with our emotions we tell ourselves calm down and it doesn’t work. Just like if someone else tells you to calm down it comes across as dismissive.

If we change how we communicate with ourselves making it more collaborative, it can go a lot different. If you ask your emotion to take a step back many times this will work. The technique doesn’t work with everyone; however, it can work for many people. All you do is you notice the emotion and if its unwanted or too intense (like a panic attack while driving) you ask that emotion to take a step back for the time being.

In tune with your emotions

With a positive emotion (calmness) you ask that emotion to please take a step forward. Try this and see if it works for you, if it does you may be able to feel more of any emotion you want at any given time. It can give you more control of your emotions.
