ADD/ADHD

ADHD Affects 1 in 10 Children

In the U.S approximately 11% of children aged 4-17 are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In most cases, the first treatment option presented to patients or their parents is medication, and while this may work for some children, it doesn't work for everyone. In fact, in some cases, the side effects of the medication are as bad as the symptoms that the medication is trying to mask.

There is a less drastic, natural alternative to treating ADHD in the form of neurofeedback. It's a solution that can replace powerful stimulant medications, without the negative side-effects.

It's not too late to seek treatment.

Many adults who suffer from ADD or ADHD were not diagnosed as children, and without treatment, it will remain with them for life. That being said, it's not too late to seek treatment. Neurofeedback therapy is a natural solution that will teach you to self-regulate your brainwaves for relief of the symptoms associated with the disorder.

Neurofeedback: Natural ADD/ADHD Treatment and Relief

Neurofeedback is a form of operant conditioning that trains the brain to function more efficiently. Brainwaves are observed from moment to moment, and desired brain waves are rewarded. For example, let’s say you are watching a TV show, and your brain waves are being recorded. Let’s also say we are wanting to treat symptoms of ADHD. As you start to focus and pay attention, your brainwaves change. This desired change is observed and rewarded by having the screen of a TV show you are watching get brighter. As soon as you focus, the screen becomes bright, you are immediately rewarded for paying attention. As you lose focus, the screen goes dark. After a while, your brain begins adapting and changing in order for the screen to be bright. As you focus more, the screen is bright more, and you can enjoy your show. The brain is adjusting in order for it to be rewarded. By rewarding healthy brain activity many symptoms of ADHD, depression, and anxiety are reduced. This is FDA cleared and is also covered by some insurance companies.

Testing and First Treatment

In the first session we test the brainwave patterns using a sophisticated EEG equipment and establish a baseline. Imbalances are recorded and a specific course of at home ADHD treatment is established. The patient receives equipment to proceed with the treatment from the comfort of their own home which saves both time and costs from a more traditional strictly in-clinic approach.
